DeKalb High School (DHS) provides students with support and guidance to promote their health, well-being and academic success. A student’s academic counselor is the primary contact for student concerns, school-related or otherwise. Counselors may refer a student to a DHS social worker or school psychologist for more support.

A student’s counselor is indicated on their schedule. Parents/families and staff members who have concerns about a student are welcome to contact the student services office for more information. Direct general questions to Isabel Puga, student services secretary, at 815-754-2122 or [email protected]

Course Schedules and College Preparation

A student’s academic counselor will help them select classes that prepare them for the path they wish to pursue after graduation. They can also help with schedule changes.

Students who meet eligibility requirements can participate in Kishwaukee College’s TRIO Upward Bound, a program that helps DHS students prepare for college.
